I was reflecting over the week-end on where authority comes from and how we allow it to affect us.
Authority is the exercise of power and one theory talks about the three “Ps” of power: professional, positional and personal. Professional power comes from your knowledge and expertise, something you have that others do not that gives you the advantage, e.g. a medical consultant. Expanding our comfort zone
Many things make us feel good about ourselves: knowing we have done a good job or been helpful to someone or when we are praised for what we’ve done. We feel an inner peace and live within a space that can be called a comfort zone. Each person’s comfort zone will have a unique size and shape.
